It’s a crazy time in human history. Musicians all over the world are not jamming, not going to concerts, not attending their rehearsals, and not getting to connect with each other. It’s a sad time for many of us. Music, and especially jazz, is an "in-the-moment" kind of thing. It requires a push and pull, an engaged communication. Let’s keep our music rolling with Digging Deeper Jazz Workshops.

Each workshop includes prep work sent out in advance (videos and written material). There are also plenty of opportunities for followup and staying connected with Jeff and with each other after the workshop. Prepare to have fun, learn a ton, and meet some amazing musicians like yourself from around the world.

June 18 - Killer Joe, and “Two-ing The Five”
June 25 - Prelude To A Kiss, and “How To Play Ballads”
July 2 - Caravan, and “Half Whole Diminished”
July 9 - Confirmation, and “Bebop Articulation"

I’ve done these workshops over the past year in various cities around the USA and Canada, and now I’m thrilled to open them up to adult amateur and semi-pro musicians across the world. Our “Live and Online” Zoom conference format is something I’ve used extensively, and it works fantastically for this type of class interaction.

How It Works: We get together on a video call, where everyone can see and hear each other. I send you a little information and a video ahead of time to help you get ready (if you choose to do so). And then, we dig in. I share the concepts for the workshop of the day, and then I play for you, AND you have the opportunity to play for me. We ask and answer questions, and it’s an interactive experience where you can be heard, be supported in your practice, and leave inspired.

The workshops are a maximum of 15 participants, so that we can really have some good quality time together. The audio and video from the workshop will be shared with you afterwards, so you can refer back to the workshop whenever you like. Our participants find incredible value in the Digging Deeper Jazz Workshops, and I’m thrilled to be able to offer them to you.

Cancellation Policy: this is a limited offer and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need to cancel at any time, for any reason, you will not be refunded, but you may have the opportunity to apply a credit toward a future workshop. With specific questions or needs regarding this policy and/or service, please email us at diggingdeeperjazz@gmail.com.
Digging Deeper Jazz Online Workshop - June 18, 1pm - Killer Joe and "Two-ing the Five" - $35
A song like Killer Joe can be challenging, with long stretches of two dominant chords. It’s hard to know what to do with them after awhile. This is where knowing about “ii - ing the V” comes in. By inserting another chord, much like the bebop greats would do, we can create more motion in our melodies, and use more of the vocabulary we already have. In this workshop, Jeff gives us the breakdown, and supplies us with some classic licks to begin using right away.

Digging Deeper Jazz Online Workshop - June 25, 1pm - Prelude To A Kiss, and “How To Play Ballads” - $35
Playing a ballad is one of the hardest things that a jazz musician can do. We get lost in the changes, and we get freaked out by all the changes that maybe ballads (like Prelude To A Kiss) have. And then when we do find out way through the tune, our solos often sound meandering, without direction. Let’s learn how to solve these issues and more, in very short order.

Digging Deeper Jazz Online Workshop - July 2, 1pm - Caravan, and “Half Whole Diminished” - $35
The Half Whole Diminished scale is a great sound, but it’s such a hard sound to get into our ears for so many of us. And once we have learned the notes, it’s still very hard to make any real music with it. In this workshop, Jeff Antoniuk shows us some hidden gems inside the Half Whole scale, elements that we already know and can already use. Get ready to sound GREAT with this sound almost immediately!

Digging Deeper Jazz Online Workshop - July 9, 1pm - Confirmation, and “Bebop Articulation" - $35
Articulation is one of the most important things that a jazz musician can learn. Articulation is what makes our rhythms pop, and what makes our melodies swing and groove. Without knowing the rules of the road, it’s hard to ever get out playing our of the “novice zone.” Let Jeff Antoniuk share with you the Four Rules of jazz articulation, and how they apply, in real time, to the bebop classic Confirmation.
